Teaching

Over the years I have been fortunate to teach astrology in a number of different settings. I am very grateful to Richard Tarnas who provided me with my first opportunities in learning to be an effective teacher. He invited me to assist with several of his CIIS courses, offering outside tutorials to his students, and occasionally substitute teaching for him when he was unavailable. In 2001 I was invited to teach a six-day Grof training module in Australia, which I called “The Power of Archetype.” This module explored the ways astrology can be seen as a spiritual discipline, and also explored the ways astrology and breathwork support and amplify each other. I was fortunate to teach this module several more times: in Argentina, Spain and twice here in the United States.

In 2002 I taught a weekly astrology class in San Francisco over a 15-week period. The class was modeled after Richard Tarnas’ practicum course “Psyche and Cosmos II.” Participants all had each other’s natal charts, and we followed closely and reported in about our transits each week. During this class I also gave weekly presentations on my current archetypal fascinations. I did several presentations on current news stories and how they related to what was in the sky; gave a presentation on Stephen Spielberg and played film clips representative of his natal chart; gave a presentation on the famous “Rumble in the Jungle,” looking at Muhammad Ali’s, and George Foreman’s charts and transits for the fight; presented an analysis of Shakleton’s famous journey to Antarctica; and several other interesting presentations. I hope to teach another version of this class in 2010 and will post details on this site when the dates are clear.

In 2004 I was invited to speak at the Sixteenth International Transpersonal Conference in Palm Springs, and I gave a talk titled “The Joy of Astrology: Living the Life Archetypal.” The conference was wonderful, and my talk was well received. If you are interested in purchasing a taped copy of the talk, you can do so through Conference Recording Services. Here’s a link: www.ConferenceRecording.com (just type in my last name, and the talk will come up).

I have also been invited several times to deliver brief introductory lectures to private groups or classes. For one such class I traveled by car several hours to give a free talk, with the arrangement that a number of people attending the talk would be meeting with me for astrological consultations. If you wish to sponsor me for such a talk, please contact me to make arrangements.

Teaching in 2009

I am very happy to announce that I will be assisting Richard Tarnas in the teaching of his course “Psyche and Cosmos II: Transits in Depth (Practicum)” which will be offered this fall through CIIS.

The class meets Wednesdays 11:45-2:45 starting on September 2nd. Registration priority will be given to CIIS PCC students, but there may be some space for outside auditors (some background and experience with an archetypal approach to astrology required).

Contact Jessica Kostosky at jkostosky@ciis.edu for more information.

Mentoring

Several of my astrological clients over the years have asked me to mentor them in their personal studies of astrology. I have always enjoyed doing this, and would be available to work with anyone who wants to go deeper into the practice of archetypal astrology. I can work with you either in-person in San Francisco or over the telephone, and will design a course of study suited to your individual needs. My only requirement is that you have had an initial astrological consultation with me prior to beginning the mentorship. This will allow us to get to know each other, and will also give you a sense for my approach to astrology.

My fee for mentorship is $150 for a 90 minute session. Please contact me for more details.
